TD Ameritrade – Acquisition of TD Waterhouse USA

Ameritrade Holding Corporation completed its acquisition of TD Waterhouse USA from the TD Bank Financial Group on the 24th of January, 2006. After the completion of the acquisition, the company was renamed to TD Ameritrade. As a result, TD Ameritrade is now one of the biggest online brokerage firms with as many as 7.2 million client accounts and client assets worth as much as $225 billion. Net income and revenue levels are estimated to increase up to $557 million and $1.8 billion respectively. The TD Bank Financial Group owns a 39% stake in TD Ameritrade and further bought Ameritrades brokerage operations in Canada for a sum of $60 million. Due to this acquisition, investors in Ameritrade received a one-time dividend of $6 that was funded through Ameritrade borrowings and extra cash that had been given to TD Waterhouse USA by TD Bank. TD Bank have stated that they will limit the ownership of the firm to 45% for a period of 10 years following the acquisition. Also, founder of TD Ameritrade, J. Joseph Ricketts will be limiting his ownership of the company to 29%, also for a period of 10 years following the acquisition.

I just read an article about a small business owner who is offering his employees and extra $50,000 if they stay with the company for at least 5 years. He is quoted as saying something like “people aren’t loyal to companies anymore.” Well, I hate to break it to him, but there is a reason for that. Companies don’t care about their employees like they used to. They don’t offer the benefits and pensions like they used to. And many of them can fire you on a whim, and even abuse you.

There was nothing keeping me loyal to my former company. The atmosphere there was so bad and the treatment of employees was terrible. I was so stressed out all the time. I couldn’t wait to get out.

But I am very loyal to my current company. My job to help businesses accept credit cards online is very fulfilling. I love the merchants I deal with, they are the best! I really do love helping them grow their busineses.

I have always dreamed of retiring to a place where the pace of life is slow. I love going on nature walks and enjoying the peacefulness of hearing birds sing among the trees. I like a place where there is a lot of outdoor activities that you can do. I was visiting the Grand Tetons during one vacation, and I marveled at the beauty in that area. Then I thought what a great idea it would be to retire to this area. I looked into teton valley real estate. There are a lot of nice homes. The area is a great place for people who like the outdoors, like myself. A lot of people like to go there for summer and winter activities. When I am ready to retire, I think I will seriously think about Teton Valley. It certainly has a lot of qualities that I am looking for.
